Spring is arriving and with it comes sugaring season.  Frieda’s March 12th due date was also fast approaching. 

March 10th began as a busy day gathering maple sap.  We also had a birthday party planned for the evening… and Frieda had her own plans! 🙂

After getting home from the sugar woods, I went to get cleaned up.  Elizabeth went down to the puppy room to check on Frieda.  She immediately dashed back upstairs, calling, “Mommy, Frieda is pushing!!!”

I raced downstairs. The 1st puppy arrived 15 min. later.

Everyone scrambled to move our birthday party down to the puppy room and we celebrated in between the arrival of the puppies!  The first one arrived at 4:45 p.m. and the rest of them arrived in quick succesion.  By 10:00 all 7 puppies, 4 males and 3 females, were born. 

Thank you Frieda! A litter of puppies was one of the best birthday presents I could have ever asked for!
